A hug in a mug

Updated: Oct 29, 2019

When I think of fall, memories from my childhood come back to me. Cold (I am from Quebec remember!), crisp days; a day spent outside raking leaves, making big piles and jumping in them, and raking some more; Or we would gather firewood for the winter (and trust me, we needed lots of it!)

The best part was that at the end, we would gather together to share a nice warm beverage. I recently made this particular tea and loved it, so I thought I would share it with the world; especially that we are entering the best season for it. So go on and enjoy it with your loved ones.

Spiced Apple Tea

To make 1 liter, use 2 TBSP of the Gathering Place Mulling Spice blend and half an inch of ginger in 1L of organic raw apple cider (no alcohol). Simmer for 15 to 30 minutes for best results. Add raw unpasteurized honey (I personally don't add honey, I find it sweet enough as is) to your taste after it has cooled down- or in your own mug. Strain and enjoy while it is warm

HEALTH BENEFITS of the ingredients

Cinnamon is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, it aids glycemic control and stimulates digestion.

Allspice is antimicrobial and an antioxidant, it may lower blood pressure, aids in digestion, menstrual cramps and abdominal pain.

Cloves may help reduce stress, antimicrobial properties, contain antioxidants which support the liver.

Orange peel reduces inflammation, useful to prevent high blood pressure and stroke, contains vitamin C.

Ginger is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, aid circulation, aid detoxification and is a digestive support.

I choose apple cider as it is less processed than apple juice and there is no preservatives added. It may support heart health, may protect the brain, supports hydration, is high in vitamins and minerals, boosts the immune system and helps the liver and intestines, plus may have beneficial bacteria for your guts.

You can substitute apple cider, for apple juice; or for an adult version use cider or wine.

I hope you will enjoy, let me know in the comments!

Now, gather together and have a big hug in a mug!
